Our key features
The mission of IMPRS-µLife is to train the world's most promising junior researchers in the fast-moving field of microbiology. We offer a 3-year PhD program by closely integrating cutting-edge research in microbiology with a structured training program.
Our goal provide PhD candidates with an integrative understanding of the principles of microbial life across all scales: from protein structure, metabolism and biochemical transformations, cellular organization and architecture, information processing and storage, to the interactions of microbes with the non-living and living environment. Our program rests on the historically very strong partnership between the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology (MPI-TM) and the University of Marburg (UMR), and builds on a successful history of 20 years of outstanding IMPRS-based graduate research training.
