Since 2003, the IMPRS in Marburg offers an international PhD program which provides interdisciplinary training in modern microbiology, state-of-the-art research facilities, and mentoring by world class scientists. More than 300 PhD students were admitted to the program during that time, either through our yearly recruitment, or by being hired individually by the faculy members.

Our call for PhD applications is announced annually in December and with a fixed application deadline in February following year. To make sure that you meet the requirements for application, please visit the page on Eligibility & application documents.

In addition to the official selection procedure, doctoral candidates previously accepted by faculty members can apply to become members of the our program. Based on a written application and on a panel interview, an Admission committee decides on acceptance.
